Criminal Records Bureau increase cost of Enhanced CRB check
Transport for London Taxi and Private Hire (TfL TPH) have just been informed by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) that the cost of an Enhanced check is set to increase by £8 to £44 from 6 April 2011.
This will impact on all new applicants for Taxi or Private Hire driver licences or drivers who are undergoing the 3-year renewal process.
Any applications that have been countersigned by TfL TPH and accepted by the CRB before 6 April will be charged at £36 and they will endeavour to process and despatch applications arriving prior to this date.
In order to be guaranteed acceptance at the lower fee, applications will need to arrive with them no later than 25 March 2011. They apologise for the lack of notice of this change, but they have only just been informed of the decision themselves.
The CRB state that the cost of an Enhanced check has remained frozen for 5 years.
