Smoking penalty for painter
The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) recently issued a statement in support of Ceredigion County Council for handing a fixed penalty ticket to a painter and decorator who breached smoke-free legislation.
The painter was issued with a fixed penalty notice
after both he and his passenger were found to be
smoking in their vehicle, having been stopped by
police as part of a multi-agency initiative. He
acknowledged that the vehicle was used as a work
vehicle and fixed penalty notices were served on
both persons.
The men admitted the offence and paid the fixed
penalty notice rather than have the matter
considered by the Court. A total of 56 vehicles were
stopped during the initiative and three fixed penalty
notices were issued in connection with
contraventions of the smoke-free places legislation.
